Mitt Romney. Barack Obama. With the presidential election a few short months away, the 2012 campaign for the oval office is definitely heating up. Both candidates are touring the country, making speeches and public appearances as they battle for the nation’s highest office. We at Fine Tuxedos thought we’d scrutinize both the Incumbent Democrat Barack Obama and the Republican challenger Mitt Romney according to the most all-important but seldom-discussed criterion of them all: style. At some point in the history of mandom, we collectively reached the decision that bachelor parties should be spent in the presence of booze, bros, and scantily clad women. With grooms-to-be being all but expected to adhere to this societal norm, the ultimate effect was the redefining of the term “bachelor party” so that it was synonymous with “debauchery.”
In retrospect it sounds a little cliche, a little expected, and when we get right down to the down and dirty, maybe a little classless too.
But interestingly enough, it’s also becoming decreasingly popular. Whether you want to chalk it off to the rising age of the average groom, the economy, or a stronger embrace of individuality, raunchiness and rowdiness are losing their status as sendoff staples. Stars showed up in style at the 66th Annual Tony Awards.
The ceremony at last weekend’s Tony Awards was quite the show – host Neil Patrick Harris wowed viewers, James Corden shocked the world as the surprise winner of the award for Best Actor, and the ceremony itself generated not a little controversy with its spot for Royal Carribean International. But the real story of the night was the dazzling array of well-dressed men on the red carpet, on the stage, and in the audience. A whole host of actors showed up in their best duds; we give you the highlights of the night.
Now that Memorial Day is behind us and it’s well into summer, you’re likely thinking that it’s time to hang up the formal attire, break out the grill, and relax.
