The start of the autumn season means that all our fall favorites are back on TV. One in particular has everyone excited in anticipation. Since its debut in June of 2005, Dancing With the Stars continues to light up living rooms and family nights across the nation. Looks like Season 17 is going to be quite a show. Get ready for sizzling choreography, creative costumes, and some serious competition.
September 4, 2013 on ABC’s Good Morning America, 12 brand new celebrities contestants were announced and even made a special appearance. From reality TV to a professional sports league, the contestants come with a variety of talent and charisma. The six men of the season are exceptional. One by one, they made their dazzling debut through the studio. Sporting a charming mix of casual and formal flair, it’ll be interesting to see how well they put up with traditional men’s formal wear for ballroom dancing.
Men typically wear a traditional button down with black pants. Depending on the routine and theme, they may dress to match their partner or dress more according to the theme of the dance. Each type of ballroom dance may require it’s own unique and traditional attire. From the fun foxtrot to the seductive salsa, each dance will carry its own culture and style. With perfect poise and posture, dancers bring the music to life. Always a classic and most formal affair, ballroom dancing is most certainly a gentleman’s sport.
During the announcement, the male contestants for the upcoming season did their best to keep things light and casual, but some managed to add an element of formal wear to their attire. Corbin Bleu, the once wild haired Wildcat from High School Musical, wore a purple shirt complete with a purple polka dotted necktie. Former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson strolled in with a smile wearing a light button down and a dark necktie. Pretty Little Liars’ Brant Daugherty switched things up with a vest, while comedian Bill Engvall high-fived guests in a more traditional jacket.
Two contestants went above and beyond, taking their formal wear to new heights. Jack Osbourne blew the crowd away as he donned such a dapper ensemble. He was the epitome of a gentleman. As he walked through the studio, no one could doubt his confidant and collected demeanor. But it was none other than Bill Nye who stole the show. Known around the nation as “The Science Guy,” Bill was such a dashing delight. In a brilliant blue haze of style and excitement, he shared his enthusiasm with guests, all while donning his trademark bow tie of course. If there’s anyone to watch this season for sensational and successful style it’s him. Bill Nye knows more than anyone just how powerful great formal wear accessories can be. Be sure to tune in on Monday, September 16 at 8pm ET, when the new season kicks off with a two hour premiere.
