American Formal Wear On the 57th Presidential Inauguration

President Obama sworn in to his 2nd term in office - in style, of course.

On January 21, 2013, the 57th Inaugural Ceremonies took off in a grand style. Charles E. Schumer, the current Chairman of the Joint Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies for President Barack H. Obama’s 2nd inauguration, served as the master of ceremonies and gave a tremulously powerful opening speech during the Call to Order and Welcome Remarks. Before he stepped off the podium, he left us with this: “America always rises to the occasion.” That day, America managed to do so again.  Doing their best to keep the nation’s standards high, the president, his family, fellow cabinet members, and guests rose in stunning and celebratory formal wear as the entire Nation watched our 44th president swear into office. Sneak Peek — MTV Video Music Awards 2012

The annual MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) show is set to air next month, and the anticipation is growing by the tick of a clock. With some of music’s biggest stars slated to perform and accept nominations for the highly-coveted astronaut trophy, this year is sure to live up to expectations. Oh yeah, and comedian Kevin Hart will be the host and entertain us with his hilarious and unpredictable antics. No big deal.

How can we forget last year’s VMA’s? Fans

both at the Staples Center  viewing from home were dazzled by the explosive performances of Jay Z and Kanye West, Beyonce, Chris Brown, and Lil Wayne. The dynamic duo, Hova and Mr. West performed their radio smash hit “Otis” off their sensational mega-hit album Watch the Throne, while the beautiful Beyonce sang her upbeat, modulation-heavy R&B single, “Love on Top.” The conclusion of her performance took everyone by surprise as she revealed to the world her pregnancy. Chris Brown displayed great endurance as he sang and danced to a music medley, wearing a sharp white tuxedo. The playlist consisted of his song “Yeah 3X,” followed by legendary rap group Wu-Tang Clan’s “Protect Ya Neck.” Then the talented music artist took it back to the Seattle grunge period of the early 90’s when he briefly turned the energy meter to a maximum for Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” before concluding with his “Beautiful People.” Lil Wayne showed off his rocker side, playing “How to Love” off the “Carter IV” EP, and ended with the song “John” featuring Rick Ross, which mentions former Beatles great, John Lennon in the chorus.

This year’s line-up of artists will undoubtedly satisfy fans. Let’s be honest: how can anybody complain when artists such as Alicia Keys, Pink, Green Day and One Direction are scheduled to absolutely rock the stage? And there are still more performers to be named as we get closer to show time. It will be an unforgettable array of talent for our immediate viewing pleasure.

Let’s also not forget about the biggest winners from the 2011 VMA. Among other award recipients, Katy Perry’s pop single, “Fireworks” earned her Video of the Year honors, Justin Bieber won Best Male Video, and Nicki Minaj walked away with the Best Hip-Hop Video award. Lady Gaga walked up to the stage to receive a trophy on more than one occasion, while Tyler the Creator was dubbed MTV’s best new artist.

Several stars have been nominated for more than one category this year. Pop sensation, Rihanna is, by far, the entertainer with the most nominations (nine, with featured appearances included). These include Video of the Year, Best Female Video, and Best Choreography. The Former Degrassi-star-turned-Young Money-standout Drake is in five categories, highlighted by Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Male Video. Other fan favorites with potential to leave the Staples Center with a Moonman are The Throne (Kanye and Jay Z), Beyonce, Justin Bieber, and M.I.A.

If this year’s performers, this year’s host, and this year’s set of nominees are any indication, the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will be a night full of big surprises, big moments, extravagant attire and lots of laughter.
