American Formal Wear On the 57th Presidential Inauguration

President Obama sworn in to his 2nd term in office - in style, of course.

On January 21, 2013, the 57th Inaugural Ceremonies took off in a grand style. Charles E. Schumer, the current Chairman of the Joint Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies for President Barack H. Obama’s 2nd inauguration, served as the master of ceremonies and gave a tremulously powerful opening speech during the Call to Order and Welcome Remarks. Before he stepped off the podium, he left us with this: “America always rises to the occasion.” That day, America managed to do so again.  Doing their best to keep the nation’s standards high, the president, his family, fellow cabinet members, and guests rose in stunning and celebratory formal wear as the entire Nation watched our 44th president swear into office. The Joker's make-up might have needed a little touch up but his choice of formal wear was certainly compelling.

In my previous article, I discussed some of our favorite well-dressed superheroes. I’m not referring to their colorful tights or armor of course, but to their alter egos’ outfits of choice. Bruce Wayne, Tony Stark, and Clark Kent all have a highly enviable sense of style. From their crisp suits to their choices in ties, these men know how to dress.  However, they are not the only ones. Formal Wear of Silver Screen Heartthrobs

Decades have already passed since James Bond's earlier films, yet his look still remains a classic.

James Bond is potentially one of the most well known and well dressed ladies’ men in history. From his smooth talk and quick wit to his ability to stay calm under pressure, he defeats villains left and right and manages to still look amazing while doing it. Many actors have emulated his style to tangle with bad guys and ladies alike. Though he may have preferred his martinis shaken, (more…)

Many historians agree that the tuxedo was created in 1886 by Pierre Lorillard IV, a resident of Tuxedo Park, a town located just outside of New York City. American males, specifically those of the affluent variety, witnessed a momentous change in men’s formal wear with the addition of this new look.
