On January 21, 2013, the 57th Inaugural Ceremonies took off in a grand style. Charles E. Schumer, the current Chairman of the Joint Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies for President Barack H. Obama’s 2nd inauguration, served as the master of ceremonies and gave a tremulously powerful opening speech during the Call to Order and Welcome Remarks. Before he stepped off the podium, he left us with this: “America always rises to the occasion.” That day, America managed to do so again. Doing their best to keep the nation’s standards high, the president, his family, fellow cabinet members, and guests rose in stunning and celebratory formal wear as the entire Nation watched our 44th president swear into office.
