Fifty Shades of Grey has been one of the most anticipated movies of the year. People who loved E. L. James’ novel of love, sex, and sadomasochism couldn’t wait to see the fantasy brought to life, while those who derided the book as nothing but Twilight fanfiction couldn’t wait to laugh at the movie. Of course, no matter what motivated people to go to the theater, James and director Sam Taylor-Johnson won: Fifty Shades brought in over $200 million in its opening weekend.
The film’s international premiere was on February 11 at the 65
th Berlin International Film Festival, and it hit theaters on February 13. The stars of the movie hit the red carpet in Berlin wearing some incredible outfits. Here are a few of the best looks and some tips on how you can recreate the mens formal wear outfits.
Dakota Johnson
Dakota Johnson plays Anastasia “Ana” Steele, the young, naïve girl who is taken in by Christian Grey and introduced to the world of BDSM. For the movie’s premiere, Johnson chose a black Dior dress with a plunging neckline. She looked great with her hair down and only a few simple pieces of jewelry to accent the dress.
Jamie Dornan
Mr. Grey himself, Jamie Dornan wore a classic
two-button black tuxedo. He added a small blue bow tie and pocket square to the ensemble to give it a little bit of color. Dornan looked every bit like the rich entrepreneur his character is supposed to be. Recreating this look is very simple. Pul this classic look together with a pair of black tuxedo pants, a crisp white button up shirt, and two -button tuxedo jacket. Top it off with a bow tie and a pair of shiny black shoes, and you’re set.

Sam Taylor-Johnson
The director of the film, Sam Taylor-Johnson chose to contrast sharply with her stars. She worn a long all-white gown designed by Stella McCartney. With few frills or extras, Taylor-Johnson added a small, thin necklace as an accent. She walked the red carpet on the arm of her husband, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who will soon be walking another red carpet when his film Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in May. He wore a classic black tuxedo with a
black bowtie. Again, a simple look to duplicate, but classically handsome.
E.L. James and Husband Niall Leonard
Naturally, author E.L. James was in attendance. She wore a very interesting black and taupe dress with a decorative pattern to the premiere. Like the other women, James didn’t wear much jewelry, leaving her neck bare and choosing only a few small bracelets for each wrist. She was escorted by her husband Niall Leonard. He chose an appropriately colored grey suit for the event, pairing it with a silver tie. His outfit can be re-created with this

How much more money will Fifty Shades of Grey earn? And will the sequels do just as well? Only time will tell.
