The Wedding Ringer Movie Premiere
The new comedy “The Wedding Ringer” premiered January 6th at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. Stars and supporters such as Josh Gad, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Kevin Hart, Laura Govan, Nicky Whelan, Draya, Damien Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. were in attendance. The mood of the premiere was relaxed and light hearted. Cuoco-Sweeting, who was celebrating her anniversary with her husband, Ryan Sweeting, smooched for the camera, and Hart even posed arm in arm with SONY Pictures co-chair Amy Paschal, whose recent comments about the comic have been less than flattering.
“The Wedding Ringer” is a film that tells the story of a shy, friendless groom-to-be (Josh Gad) who has to come up with a best man and groomsmen for his upcoming wedding to his fiancé (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting). To that end, he employs a bunch of strangers to provide the required attendants for the ceremony -- not just a “best man for hire” (Kevin Hart) but a whole string of phony groomsmen, as well. Gad’s character hopes that the ruse will make him look good to his bride and her parents, but mayhem ensues when things don’t go exactly as he planned. The overall fashion tone of the premiere was casual elegance -- with a few mishaps. Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting rocked the red carpet in a pale blue, shiny, strapless dress paired with pale blue heels. But she forgot to peel the barcode sticker off the bottom of her heels, a fact that eagle-eye photogs pointed out. Laura Govan wore a strapless, low cut black and gold minidress that was beautiful, but also so low that she suffered a few critical wardrobe malfunctions during the evening. Among the male stars and attendees, there was hardly a tuxedo shirt to be found, with most going for a casual chic look. Male lead Josh Gad wore a blue suit, light blue dress shirt and pink tie to the premiere. Kevin Hart went with a more adventurous look, sporting a black and gold blazer over a black shirt and gold chains. He completed the look with black slacks and designer black and gold sneakers. Cuoco-Sweeting’s 6’5”husband, tennis pro Ryan Sweeting, wore a gray plaid suit with a white shirt and gray tie. Although we would have liked to see some big and tall tuxedos in the mix, comedy film premieres can tend to be more casual. Furthermore, though the stars of the new movie opted for a more casual look for the L.A. premiere, their fictional characters looked very elegant for the movie wedding in classic black tuxedos, bow ties, and silk cummerbunds. If you want to look like the leading man at your own special occasion, you can rock a tux like a Hollywood star without spending a fortune. There are many discount tuxedo options, to get a blockbuster look at a budget film price. The initial response to “The Wedding Ringer” premiere was one of favorable anticipation, and opening weekend numbers were no disappointment either. The Wedding Ringer opened with a solid $21 million over its debut weekend.
