Fashion Highlights from the 72nd Golden Globe Awards

http://londonmoms.ca/2015-golden-globes/The 72nd Golden Globe Awards ceremony was held on January 11th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The Golden Globe Awards recognize excellence in film and television. Comediennes Tina Fey and Amy Poehler served as co-hosts for this year’s event. Some of this year’s winners include the movie Boyhood, Best Motion Picture Drama; Eddie Redmayne, Best Actor for his performance as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything; Julianne Moore, Best Actress for her performance as Dr. Alice Howland in Still Alice; and Richard Linklater, Best Director for his work on the movie Boyhood. Michael Keaton won the Best Actor Award in the Musical or Comedy category with his performance as Riggan Thomson in Birdman. George Clooney also received the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award during the event. The evening was one of glamour, elegance and little fashion whimsy. Fashion trends for the ladies included floor length, body-hugging gowns, with solid colors overwhelmingly favored over prints. Sequins, chiffons and silks were on display on the red carpet, with Best Actress winner Julianne Moore wearing a stunning sleeveless Givenchy Couture gown in metallic silver. Amy Adams, who also won Best Actress in the Musical or Comedy category, wore a shimmering one-shouldered Versace gown in baby blue. Several female stars such as Emma Stone and Jennifer Aniston, wore tuxedo-inspired ensembles on the red carpet, though thankfully, they paired them with heels, rather than the more usual patent leather tuxedo shoes! Although there were plenty of classic tuxedos on the red carpet during the evening (Hollywood veterans like Micheal Keaton and George Clooney kept it simple and elegant with a standard black tux), some of the male stars channeled their inner fashion rebel with glitter tuxes, two-toned tuxes, colored tuxes, and even sneakers! There were a few smart tuxedo vests on display (the ever-elegant Matthew McConaughey and breakout star David Oyelowo rocked black silk vests with their tuxes). Oyelowo was also fashion forward with a form-fitting black tux with a subtle shimmer of metallic glitter. Jared Leto, Alan Cumming and Matt Bomer were among the more sartorially adventurous stars. Leto sported an off-white tux with dark lapels, Bomer went with a fitted navy blue tuxedo, but Cumming was by far the most daring, wearing a pale beige tux over two-toned, high-topped sneakers! Most of the male stars favored bow ties over standard ties, though Leto was once again a nonconformist with a white bow tie. Cumming wore a standard beige tie that matched the color of his suit, while Adrian Grenier favored a standard tie in black to match his shirt. While the 72nd Golden Globe Awards are now history, you are always the leading man of your own life. Why not look the part with a fitted tux? Whether you prefer a trendy look, such as two-toned or even a glitter tux, or more classic tuxedos with vented jackets, a fitted tux will make you stand out from the crowd at your own special event.
