New Years Resolutions

new_year_2014_310683 (1)Now that New Years is right around the corner, it’s about time you got our your pen and paper and wrote down a list of resolutions. Often times, people resolve to do things, and then forget about them or lose interest. The best way to avoid that is to write your resolutions down and hang your list up in a visible location that you will pass every day. Here are some New Years Resolutions that you should consider putting on your list:


Whether you need to lose weight, tone your body, get in shape, or just stay active to stay healthy, exercise is the way to go. This doesn’t mean you need to exercise for hours every day. Instead, pick one or two exercises that you enjoy and that you think you can stick to for the year. If you decide to go on the treadmill, pick an amount of time that is realistic for you, and make sure you exercise at least 3 times a week. If you decide to do lunges, make sure you know how to do lunges correctly and then make yourself goals for each session. Resolving to exercise will not only improve your health, but it will add some structure to your week and allow you to fit into that old white tuxedo you loved.

Save Money

One of the best ways to save yourself money is by making sure the belongings you have don’t get ruined, torn, or destroyed. This applies to everything form furniture to kitchen appliances to formal wear. If you take care of your belongings, you won’t have to spend money on purchasing items that you already had. This means, keep your furniture clean, and take care when you wash your clothing. If you just throw your tuxedo suit and shirt in the washing machine and dryer with the rest of your clothes, they will get worn, stretched, and lose some of the vibrancy in their coloring. To prevent this, send your formal wear to the dry cleaners or hand wash them in your sink. Use bleach when you wash your whites to keep them extra shiny (but be careful not to wash your dark-colored pants and jacket right after that!).

Help Others

Resolve to spend some time this year helping others. Whether this means volunteering at a formal organization, or doing one act of kindness a day (like when you pass someone on the street who could use a little help), the more you help others, the more inclined others will be to help you.

Take a Vacation

New Years Resolutions don’t have to be about difficultly. Sometimes you just need a break from the stress of work and school. Taking a vacation is a great way to rejuvenate yourself and allow you to start fresh and with new enthusiasm. Plus, having a trip to look foreword to is a great way to help you get through the tedium of your workdays. Remember to pack some formal wear favorites for your trip!

Break a Bad Habit

Everyone has them—that one thing that gets on everybody’s nerves; that one habit that isn’t healthy for your well-being. Whether it’s biting your nails, smoking, drinking alcohol, or anything else, resolve to break your bad habits this year.
